Hold on to your butts, Blenders fam! We’re taking a wickedly wild ride through nature’s mysteries today (man, it’s been a heck of a week for mysteries), as we examine the 5 Most Bizarre Land Animals Alive Today.
From pink fairy armadillos to the naked mole rat, there’s a lot to freak all of you out with. So, let’s get started!

Imagine meeting your fairy godmother and it being… well, this lil thing.
The pink fairy armadillo—or Chlamyphorus truncates for those that speak science—is the tiniest armadillo species in the world. (It measures in at approximately 10 centimeters!) Native to Argentina, when the pink fairy armadillo isn’t granting wishes and admonishing you to be home by midnight, it’s happily rummaging in holes throughout plains and grasslands.
If there was ever a case for plastic surgery, you’d think this would be it.
But wait! The huge honkin’ noses sported by the Proboscis Monkey of Borneo are actually an asset. They use their giant schnozes to woo mates for some hanky-panky. Because, you know, their noses look like penises. (Look, we’ve just been told this is how it works… we refuse to ever witness it.) Further, the nose can serve to amplify their lustful booty calls.
All of the above is probably more than you ever wanted to know about this monkey. You’re welcome.

You’ve heard the saying, “He/she wears his/her heart on their sleeve.” What about simply “wearing” it right on your chest, where all can literally see it?
That’s the stunt “Diane’s Bare-Hearted Glass Frog” (real name) pulls. The first glass frog discovered in Costa Rica since 1973, it has a translucent belly and chest, meaning you can see its various organs.

We saved the ugliest for last! How sweet of us.
The Naked Mole Rat is like something ripped from your nightmares. Pink, bloated, wrinkled, and entirely hairless, this thing is basically God’s mistake, let’s just be real. Living in insect-like colonies, the naked mole rat community is led by a queen rat that asserts her dominance on the reg. She breeds and bears all the young for the community, too.
Reading back over the above, we think we have the script idea for our next horror movie…
